Marcelo puts in transfer request to join Juventus

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has told the club that he wants to join Juventus during the January transfer window. Tuttosport claim that Marcelo is unhappy at Madrid and wants to leave when the transfer window reopens, with Juve his preferred destination. Club president Florentino Perez is understood to be angry with Marcelo's demands to be sold but would be willing to accept an offer of between €50m (£44.1m) and €60m (£52.9m). At the start of September, Marcelo pledged allegiance to Real Madrid to the club's TV channel: "I am very happy at Madrid. People know what my situation is, I have a lot of years left on my contract, I am very happy here. For me, it is the best club in the world".
