Manchester United's seven-man transfer shortlist as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to rebuild

Manchester United are reportedly targeting seven players as they look to bolster the squad following their dreadful start to the season. United are just two points above the relegation zone, have only won two league games this season and have not scored more than once in any game since the 4-0 win against Chelsea on 11 August. According to ESPN the seven players United are interested in are Mario Mandzukic, John McGinn, James Maddison, Callum Wilson, Declan Rice, Moussa Dembele and Ivan Rakitic. Mandzukic, Wilson or Dembele could go a long way towards filling the void left by the departure of striker Romelu Lukaku over the summer.  They are also lacking a ball-playing midfielder, which is where Maddison or McGinn could prove to be great assets.  Either Rice or Rakitic are also being targeted in the defensive midfielder role, with 2018 signing Fred still failing to inspire at Old Trafford.
