Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat would rather join another club

Manchester United's priority target Sofyan Amrabat would rather join Atletico Madrid, as per Spanish outlet Sport

The Morrocco international believes that his style of play would suit Deigo Simeone's style more than Erik ten Hag's. Yet, other reliable sources like Fabrizio Romano have repeatedly claimed that Amrabat wants to make the move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils are reportedly waiting for the departure of some players to collect the budget for signing the Fiorentina star. Such outgoing can be Harry Maguire, if ten Hag's side accepts their improved bid.

The defensive midfielder's deal with the Serie A side expires in the upcoming year. Despite the club having the choice to prolong it for another year, this seems to be more of a strategic move for bargaining, given Amrabat's apparent intention to depart from the club.

As indicated in the Sport report, the potential transfer cost is approximately €40 million. However, Romano had previously indicated that talks could initiate starting from about €30 million.

The 26-year-old has previously worked under the management of United's head coach in FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie.
