Bayern Munich could now miss out on signing João Palhinha amid Manchester United's interest, according to Bild, via Get Football News Germany.
Initially, Fulham's midfielder was set to join Die Rekordmeister on the transfer deadline day, but the move fell through because Fulham couldn't secure a replacement in time. However, Bayern still hope to sign Palhinha in January.
Manchester United are also in the market for midfield reinforcements and have identified the Portuguese international as a potential option. Despite this, there is still optimism at Bayern that the 28-year-old midfielder haa a strong desire to move to Bavaria.
It's reported that Bayern would be willing to pay €100 million for the defensive midfielder. This would represent a significant increase from the €65 million that was agreed upon between both clubs on the deadline day.
Securing a "number six" is a top priority for the German champions during the winter transfer window, as it aligns with the wishes of head coach Thomas Tuchel. Nevertheless, Tuchel's ongoing frustration over the club's failure to sign Palhinha during the summer has started to create tension between the head coach and Bayern's management.
