Manchester United set to make £35-40m bid for 20-year-old primary target

Manchester United are gearing up to make an initial bid of approximately £35-40 million for Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, intending to test the Italian club's resolve in negotiations.

However, the Serie A side are likely to demand a higher fee, as their valuation of the talented Danish international is closer to €70 million, as reported by Ben Jacobs for CaughtOffside.

Sources close to the situation suggest that a potential compromise could be reached at around £50 million, though discussions between the two clubs are still in the early stages and informal.

The 20-year-old is now the Red Devils' primary target following the imminent completion of a deal for Andre Onana, with an official announcement expected soon.

United are also prioritizing player sales, which could lead to significant changes in Erik ten Hag's squad. Several midfield players from the squad are likely to depart, with Fred attracting interest from Fulham and Donny van de Beek being pursued by his former club, Ajax.
