Manchester United ready to step up their pursuit of Mason Mount

Manchester United are keen to secure the services of Chelsea's homegrown talent Mason Mount and are reportedly ready to increase their bid.

According to Mirror's journalist David Mcdonnell Erik then Hag's side is set to offer a £50m deal for the 24-year-old talent and are unlikely to increase the amount. Chelsea's reported asking price for the Englishman is £70m. This is the same valuation as the club declared on German international Kai Havertz, who is now linked with a move to Arsenal.

Mount, who has been with Chelsea throughout his entire career, is facing the possibility of leaving the club due to the failure to extend his contract. The young midfielder's current deal is set to expire next year, and despite his significant value to the team, the Blues' owner Todd Boehly is unlikely to let him depart for free next summer. This situation puts Mount in a position where a potential departure from Stamford Bridge is on the horizon for the summer.

Having had their initial £40 million offer for the Chelsea playmaker rejected, Manchester United are reportedly unwilling to meet Chelsea's valuation of £70 million for the player. Journalist McDonnell suggests that despite the increased offer, Manchester United remains firm in their stance and is not willing to match the Blues' asking price.
