Manchester United are set to reopen talks with Juan Mata over his future, however, the decision whether to extend his Old Trafford stay is set to be down to the player, according to MEN.
The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of next month and he is yet to sign an extension, even though head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted he would be happy to keep the Spaniard in his squad.
Mata has made 271 appearances for United, but the start against the Foxes was only his fifth in the Premier League this season and his first since November.
However, Solskjaer said the final decision on his future would be down to Mata and whether he wanted to seek first-team football away from Old Trafford.
“I’ve kept the dialogue with Juan and we’re due to speak again very soon. Of course he’s not played as much as he would like and that’s a decision we will make with him,” said Solskjaer.
