Manchester United plan long-term future with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a perfect start to life as the caretaker boss at Old Trafford has put himself in the frame to take the job on a full time basis this summer by winning his first seven games in charge of the Red Devils.

Maurizio Pochettino remains the club’s first choice to take charge but Solskjaer has the backing of supporters and the clamour for his appointment will only increase if he manages to finish in the top four.

Solskjaer’s unbeaten start to his tenure at the Theatre of Dreams will come under threat against Arsenal at the Emirates in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday. Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Fred are expected to feature in north London with the Norwegian keen to rest the likes of Marcus Rashford and Martial.
