Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo completed a world record £80million transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid back in 2009. In the wake of Ronaldo’s departure, The Red Devils were interested in or linked with, numerous starry players.
In that time, Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero, also interested United, according to the former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
The ex-boss has touched upon his interest in the Argentinian in his 2015 book, Leading.
Ferguson said: "His agent was demanding a price we were not prepared to pay."
Aguero joined Manchester City for a then club record £38m in 2011, the same summer Samir Nasri opted for the Blues over United, despite personally meeting Ferguson in Paris.
