Manchester United and Manchester City eye move for Hoffenheim midfielder

Manchester City will rival Manchester United for the signing of Hoffenheim midfielder Ilay Elmkies. The Israel Under-19 international has caught the eye of Pep Guariola’s scouting network, according to The Sun. The 19-year-old has been compared to Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who starred for Pep Guardiola in Germany. He impressed against City in the UEFA Youth League last season but neighbours United also want the Israel Under-19 international. United, too, are also looking to strengthen in midfield following the departure of Ander Herrera, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has so far concentrated his efforts on securing young, British talent.
