Manchester United to make contact with Napoli star over free transfer

Manchester United are reportedly in rush for making a contact with Napoli forward Dries Mertens over free transfer ahead of his contract expire. The 32-year-old has become one of the Seria A stars after his arrival to Italy in 2013 and is set to leave in the summer. As the future of the forward at Napoli is unclear, with the club reshaping the squad, Mertens is likely to join those moving on with TuttoMercatoWeb naming United. Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested in the player, asking Napoli for £5million-per-season if the Belgian professional stays at the Serie A club with a two-year deal. United are in search of playing attackers in order to rebuild the squad, and Mertens could be a possible option. The Red Devils have also been linked with Erling Haaland, as Solksjaer reportedly flew to Austria to meet the RB Salzburg striker yesterday.
