Nottingham Forest target James Garner, who was on loan at the club, has been urged to show he is “worthy of a place” in Manchester United’s squad this summer.
His parent club want to cast an eye over him for pre-season, however, Nottingham Forest as well would like to re-sign the midfielder after he was a key player last season.

Bryan Robson talked about this, urging James Garner and the other youngsters to show their true colours during the pre-season friendlies.
"It's always good to see the lads who have been out on loan. The younger players coming through get that opportunity.
“For James, this is it. He has had his education now and is at that age where he can really prove himself this season, whether he's going to be at Manchester United or go out on loan again.
“He's a very intelligent footballer and works very hard at his game. Now it is up to James to step up and prove to Ole he is worthy of a place in the squad."
Through 2020/21 season James Garner showed a good composure in the centre of the pitch, had an incredible array of passing, which played a part in helping his team to drive forward.
