Manchester United believe Solskjaer have next Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic

Manchester United officials reportedly believe that head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already have the next Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic, with the likes of Axel Tuanzebe. The youngster has become a forgotten figure this season at Old Trafford, after an injury-hit campaign. Solskjaer was keen to keep him as part of his first-team squad this season and was hoping to hand him plenty of opportunities in the Europa League. Tuanzebe signed a new contract last summer and impressed during the pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East. However, the 22-year-old has fallen down the pecking order after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with hip and hamstring problems. The Red Devils' boss joked to Bournemouth's Nathan Ake that the club "needed a left-footed centre-back" which suggests Tuanzebe may face further competition. However,  according to journalist Andy Mitten, the England Under-21 international is held in very high regard at Old Trafford and there is hope he could go on to become a modern-day great. Speaking to Talk of the Devils podcast, he said: "Axel Tuanzebe is a player that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer really likes. Everybody at the club likes him. There's people at the club that think he's good enough to be absolutely top class, [Rio] Ferdinand class, [Nemanja] Vidic class. "But he's got to do it and the time to do it was this season. He's had a season that has been interrupted by injuries and United can't wait forever. Sometimes there are just situations with players where for whatever reason, it just doesn't quite happen for them." Source- Daily and Sunday Express
