Manchester United accidentally reveal Jose Mourinho’s replacement

Following Jose Mourinho’s sacking the main question is who will become Manchester United next manager. The Portuguese was sacked on Tuesday morning after brief meeting at the club’s training ground with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward. Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino remains the main candidate to replace Mourinho as he is favoured by the club’s hierarchy. But in the meantime, Woodward has been in talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to bring the former United striker to Old Trafford on a temporary basis. And on Tuesday evening, United confirmed the appointment on their official website by referring to Solskjaer as their ‘interim manager’. United are also expected to confirm the return of Mike Phelan as an assistant to Solskjaer. The 56-year-old, who was Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant, left Old Trafford in 2013 shortly after the Scot retired. Solskjaer’s first game in charge will be Saturday’s clash against his former club Cardiff City.
