Manchester City's struggle to sign Kalidou Koulibaly has forced them to look for other defensive options for the summer transfer window. Reports in England suggested that the Citizens have eyed Sevilla's Jules Koundé as Napoli centre-back's alternative.
According to Estadio Deportivo, City show interest in signing the France U21 international and are intended to spend around €60m on the new defender. However, the Premier League side have received a strong response, as the Spanish club refer to Koundé's release clause of €90m.
The report claims Julen Lopetegui’s side will not allow their player leave if the Sky Blues aren’t met their asking price, despite the crisis caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
City could be looking to raise funds through selling John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, while Sevilla have ruled out the possibility to involve Koundé in aswoop deal as they cannot afford Otamendi’s high salary.
