Manchester City ‘probed the ground’ to sign player – Club chief ‘at work’ to secure his future

Manchester City have now reportedly set their sights on Alessandro Bastoni. According to Calciomercato.it, ‘big names’have ‘already appeared’ for the 21-year-old. Pep Guardiola’s side have ‘probed the ground’ for signing Bastoni, but the Serie A club have other plans for the defender. Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta is ‘at work to secure’ the player’s future by offering him a new deal. His current deal runs down in 2023. The Italian currently earns €1.5m [most likely net] per season at the San Siro. Marotta would like to offer a new deal which could see his wages rise to just below €3m. The defender’s entourage, however, would like Inter to break the €3m barrier for Bastoni. Calciomercato.it states these details will be discussed in a meeting that is to be ‘fixed shortly’.
