Manchester City 'learn Lionel Messi wage demands'

Manchester City have reportedly been told that they will have to pay £500,000 a week to Leo Messi, after-tax if they want to stand the chance of signing the Argentine this summer. As it stands, Messi will be leaving Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of June. But there have been strong suggestions that the Argentina international is now open to signing a new deal at Camp Nou. According to The Sun, the Premier League champions would have to offer Messi a £500,000-a-week contract after-tax to convince the 33-year-old to move to the Etihad Stadium. The same report suggests that Messi would be open to penning a one-year deal with Pep Guardiola's side, with the option of a further 12 months.
