Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte has reportedly rejected proposal from Barcelona.
The Blaugranas new manager Xavi Hernandez is said to be a huge admirer of the 27-year-old and would welcome him in the squad next summer if an opportunity presents itself.
Laporte has been in a great form this season under Pep Guardiola making 17 appearances for the Cityzens.
According to
El Nacional, Barcelona are still keen on the Spaniard after last summer's interest.
As Samuel Umtiti is no longer in the team’s plans and Clement Lenglet is being linked with an exit as well, there would be a need for a left-footed centre-back for the Catalan heavyweights come next season.
It is reported that Laporte is grateful to Xavi and the Blaugrana for their interest and faith in his abilities but sees his future at the Etihad Stadium.
