Manchester City could beat Liverpool to sign €60m defender

Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with the move for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos. City boss Pep Guardiola is eager to strengthen the defence for the next season and go for another Premier League title. Meanwhile, newly crowned champions will be looking to a new defender, with Dejan Lovren leaving for Zenit Saint Petersburg earlier this week. It means Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will be the only three senior central defenders at Anfield. Now both sides have targeted Carlos as a suited defender for their sides. However, according to AS, City have more chances to bring the defender to Etihad. The Brazilian professional has a €75m release clause in his contract that expires in 2024. The report claims Sevilla "do not want less than €60m" to sell the player.
