Manchester City and Newcastle United are battling for the signature of Urugayan winger

Manchester City and Newcastle United are eyeing 18-year-old winger Facundo Pellistri. The Uruguayan has shown impressive performances at Penarol under the management of former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan. The nickname of the player is "Facu" and his performances last years caught the eye of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Boca Juniors. However, Real signed Federico Valverde instead. Forlan handed the number 10 shirt to Pellistri ahead of coronavirus suspension. And now, Manchester City are leading the race. Pep Guardiola's side have a full-time scout in Uruguay, moreover, Montevideo City Torque under their company and they are believed to have already held discussions with Pellistri's representatives. Pellistri is valued at £10million, however, he is not believed to be a first-team material and would mos likely be viewed as one for the future. Discussing Pellistri's potential earlier this year, Forlan told Fox Sports' Joga Bonito: "Pellistri has huge potential. There is still a lot to work on. He is growing and he makes a difference.
