Former Crystal Palace manager, Frank De Boer, finds himself in familiar territory as he's sacked by UAE side Al-Jazira after just 14 games.
The Dutchman faced a similar fate in 2017 at Palace, enduring a brief and challenging tenure that led to his departure after five Premier League losses.
De Boer's recent stint with Al-Jazira proved to be one of the worst in his career. Despite a promising start with four wins in his opening six matches, a dismal run of four defeats in the last six games sealed his fate.
His sacking followed the team's exit from the UAE League Cup at the hands of Al-Wahda. This turn of events brings back memories of the 53-year-old's past clash with Jose Mourinho.
In 2018, the legendary Portuguese coach, then-Manchester United boss, labeled De Boer as "the worst manager in the history of the Premier League" after the Dutchman criticized him while working as a pundit.
“I read something, some quote from the worst manager in the history of the Premier League – Frank de Boer." Mourinho stated.
"What he was saying was, it is not good for Marcus Rashford to have a coach like me, because the most important thing for me is to win. If he was coached by Frank he would lose because he lost every game. I try to give the best to the kid."
Following his challenging tenure at Selhurst Park, he assumed managerial duties at Atlanta, where he stayed for 18 months before transitioning to the helm of the Netherlands national team.
However, his stint with the national squad was brief, lasting only 15 matches, as he stepped down following a defeat to the Czech Republic in the Euro 2020 round of 16.
