Manchester City have a formal interest in Manchester United target Raphael Varane. United have already made a bid for the Real Madrid man. However, it’s now claimed that City and Premier League rivals Chelsea are also monitoring the French international’s situation.
Varane is out of contract next summer so could be sold rather than leave on a free in 2022. The Athletic claim United remain frontrunners for Varane’s signing, but don’t rule out City or Chelsea joining the race and making a bid if the opportunity arises.
Meanwhile, ESPN suggest City could wait another year to try and sign Harry Kane from Tottenham if they are priced out of a move this year.
