Former Arsenal star Lukas Podolski thinks Mesut Ozil is the player that could lead Arsenal to Champions League next season.
Ozil has been linked with a departure from North London side during January transfer window, as several European clubs have shown interest towards German international.
However, in the second part of the season Ozil has become one of the favourite players for Unai Emery due to his hard work.
“Mesut is a good friend of mine and a top player who can make the difference on the pitch. He can get Arsenal back into the Champions League places. They’re definitely better with him in the starting line-up, he’s got that eye for a special pass,” Podolski has told FourFourTwo (via Football London).
“They have to finish in the top four, for a club of Arsenal’s size there’s no excuse for going three seasons in a row without Champions League qualification – they need Ozil to help them.” he added.
Arsenal will visit Goodison Park to play against Everton on Sunday. Gunners are currently 4th in EPL table with 63 points and one match played less than Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United.
