Lucas Torreira speaks out on Arsenal future and transfer plans after Atletico Madrid exit

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira says he will decide his future after Copa America. Torreira has spent the past season on loan at Atletico Madrid, winning the Liga title. He will return to Arsenal this summer, but Torreira clearly hopes he will be allowed to leave north London. Asked about his future after touching down in Montevideo on Tuesday, Torreira is quoted by Ovacion as saying: "At the moment I don’t know anything. I still have a two-year contract with Arsenal and obviously when I finish with the national team I will have to return to Arsenal and then we will see. "We will analyse with my representative and see what is best for me. But I have to make it very clear that I was very happy at Atletico. I became a champion, so I am very proud." On the prospect of joining Boca, he continued: "There was a lot of talk after everything that happened with my mother because I expressed my feeling and my desire to come to Boca. But as time went by and after becoming a little calmer in the [Atletico] squad, I came to understand that everything is very difficult. But I won’t stop thinking about it because my idea is still to play for Boca and I know I’m going to do it. If it isn’t now, it will be later. "But the most important thing is that my dream is not gone, it continues to feed me and that’s a good thing. I continue to pursue the dream, although I know it is very difficult for it to happen at the moment. But now I want to be calm, be with my dad, give him a hug, be with my brothers, with my people, and then start thinking about the national team. Those, for me, are the most important things."
