Uruguay international midfielder Lucas Torreira has joined Arsenal following his side World Cup exit in the quarter-final. The midfielder, who will wear number 11 shirt, has been at the club for a medical and will now have a post-World Cup break and join up with the squad in early August.
After joining Arsenal Torreira has expressed his happiness in an interview with Arsenal Media and mentioned that he has a lot to learn from both the club and his teammates. The Uruguay international has also referred to the similarities between Marco Veratti and him as he has always been compared with the PSG midfielder:
"I try to look up to the best players and steal something from all of them. When I am on the pitch I try to play my way and make my contribution to the team. But it is true that I really like Verratti. I spent two years in his former club Pescara and supporters compared me to him. I went on checking his style and I liked it.
Lucas Torreira became Arsenal fourth signing of the summer when he joined the club from Sampdoria.
