Lucas Torreira reveals why his transfer to Arsenal took so long

Arsenal sensation Lucas Torreira who has been named the Player of the Month for November, has revealed some interesting details on his transfer to Arsenal. The midfielder joined the Gunners from Sampdoria in a £22million deal on July 11, after Uruguay's involvement in the World Cup in Russia had ended. However, he insists that he was linked with the move back in May and Gunners fans were hugely excited that a deal for the diminutive midfielder could fall through. After two months of speculation, the deal was completed and he grabbed a few important goal for Arsenal. In an interview with the club Torreira revealed that Arsenal fans didn’t need to worry: "At the end of my last season at Sampdoria there were lots of teams being talked about. "I never imagined coming here to England because it was mainly Italian clubs being mentioned. "Before I left for the World Cup I got a call from the coach which was a massive surprise for me. I knew that I had earned it because of all my hard work and everything that I had done. That phone call made me a happy man. "It allowed me to relax too because it allowed me to focus all my attention on the national team and the World Cup. I’m so proud to be part of such an important team."
