Louis Saha explains why Manchester United should sign free agent Edinson Cavani this summer

Manchester United are "missing a trick" by not recruiting free agent Edinson Cavani this summer, that's according to Louis Saha. The 33-year-old striker is available on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the last season. Cavani scored 138 goals in 200 Ligue 1 games over a seven-year spell at PSG. Moreover, he won six league titles. The Uruguayan has also scored 50 goals in 116 appearances for his country. The striker confirmed talks with Benfica over a possible move. But ex-United striker Saha feels his former side would be missing out by not making a move for Cavani. "I think Manchester United are missing a trick by not signing Edinson Cavani this summer," Saha said speaking exclusively to the Football Index Podcast. "I’ve followed him for many years and I’m gutted there doesn’t seem to be an interest there. For me, Cavani would be the best fit this summer. Cavani has a great eye for goal and his leadership would be a great asset. He has qualities that are very difficult to find on the transfer market." Saha also believes Lyon’s Moussa Dembele would be an ‘interesting’ option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. "I think Moussa Dembele could be an interesting signing for Manchester United," the Frenchman added. "I know from my time at Fulham that Dembele is physically strong and he would be a very good target man. He would be able to hold up the play and bring wide players into the game as an effective plan B against some opposition." Source: Metro
