Champions League has reached its final stage. Two strongest teams in the competition, Liverpool and Real Madrid, have reached the final and will face off on May 28.
Liverpool reached the Champions League 2021/22 final after celebrating a victory over Villarreal on Tuesday, May 3rd.
The Reds faced the Yellow Submarine in the second leg of the semifinals at El Madrigal stadium. The first leg between the sides ended in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory.
Second leg began with Unai Emery’s side leading 2-0 after the first-half as Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin scored.
Meanwhile, in the second half, Jurgen Klopp’s side scored three goals as Fabinho, Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane got their names on the scoresheet and helped the Reds to reach the final.
Real Madrid also reached the final after a comeback win against Manchester City on Wednesday, May 4th. First leg between the sides ended in City’s 4-3 victory at Etihad Stadium.
The second leg began with Riyad Mahrez scoring in the 73rd minute and making the tie 5-3 as City led. However, in the 90th minute Rodrygo equalized for La Liga side and a minute later put Los Blancos ahead. The full-time ended with Real leading 2-1 score.
Extra time began with Carlo Ancelotti’s side being awarded with a penalty as Karim Benzema converted it and made the score 3-1 (6-5 on agg).
