Liverpool to let defender leave before transfer deadline despite injury crisis

Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg will reportedly make a loan move to Preston in the January transfer window, despite the club's injury crises. Virgil van Dijk is a long-term absentee, Fabinho was forced to miss the game against Tottenham. Joep Matip was forced off at half-time. But despite Jurgen Klopp's defensive problems, Van den Berg looks set to be allowed to leave in the next few days. The 19-year-old joined the Reds in the summer of 2019. Van den Berg made four first-team appearances in the debut season but has not featured in the current campaign. According to Football Insider, Championship outfit Preston are the favourites to sign the teenager on loan. Liverpool have given Van den Berg permission to find a new club as they are keen for him to gain more first-team experience.
