Ajax centre-back Perr Schuurs has reponded to latest transfer speculations, linking him with the move to Liverpool.
The 21-year-old is reportedly on the shortlist of the Premier League champions for the January transfer window amid the injury crisis Jurgen Klopp’s side faced at the start of the campaign.
According to Dutch sports journalist Mike Verweijj, Reds could bring the defender to Anfield in winter should they meet with the club’s valuation of €30million (£27m).
“An amount of 30million will be attached,” he told De Telegraaf’s podcast. “If Marc Overmars gets the chance, I think he will do it immediately.”
“I checked at Ajax and there is no concrete interest from Liverpool.
“After the match against Liverpool, the Liverpool delegation was impressed by Schuurs. He is on a list.”
However, Schuurs has responded to the transfer speculation, insisting he sees his future development at Ajax.
“You know that’s going to happen when you play at Ajax,” he told Voetbalzone.
“But I would like to play here, for this club and my focus is here to win with Ajax.”
He added: “I’d like to play for a few more years at Ajax. I am very confident in myself with my development; first a year at Jong Ajax, then a year more at Ajax 1 and now hopefully a whole season.
“That’s the line I was hoping for, and Ajax too. Hopefully I can pull it through.”
