Liverpool set for Salah summer talks after official written request is made

Liverpool are set for talks with Mohamed Salah over his involvement in this summer's Olympic Games. The football tournament at the Tokyo Games will take place between July 22 and August 7. It's the same period of Liverpool's pre-season ahead of the 2021/22 campaign. Jurgen Klopp is sure to want the vast majority of his squad to be together before the start of the next Premier League campaign on August 14. However, Egypt have long been determined to include Salah as one of the three permitted overage players in their squad. The Head of the Temporary Committee in charge of the Egyptian FA, Ahmed Megahed, says they have written to the Reds about the forward. "Liverpool management replied to our message saying that they [will] discuss the situation with the player," Megahed told Egyptian television. "I am sure that Salah is eager to wear the Pharaohs' jersey while participating in the Olympics if he could. But it's not his own decision to make as he needs to discuss it with the club's management. I hope Liverpool accepts our request."
