Liverpool have suffered yet another blow in defence with fears Joe Gomez may have picked up a vital injury on England duty. Gomez is believed to have suffered the problem during training ahead of a friendly against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley on Thursday night Should Gomez be sent to the sidelines, it would leave Joel Matip as Liverpool's only fit senior centre-back Virgil van Dijk remains a long-term absentee after being injured by a Jordan Pickford challenge in the derby last month. It is hoped midfielder Fabinho will be back soon and could fill in again in defence. Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips have both done well when called upon in recent games. Youngsters Billy Koumetio and Sepp van den Berg are further options Klopp could turn to if needed. However, there may be a more radical solution being considered by the boss.
