Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago is reportedly nearing his departure and Liverpool are said to be in very advanced negotiations for the player. The 29-year-old Spain international moved to the Allianz Arena in 2013 and has been a serial winner in the years since.
Each of his seven campaigns playing for Bayern have completed in Bundesliga successes, while Thiago has also claimed three DFB-Pokals and also the Club World Cup in 2013.
According to Sport, Liverpool are in ‘very advanced’ negotiations with the midfielder over a move to Anfield at the end of the 2019/20 season. Jurgen Klopp already aiming to improve his squad who were only crowned Premier League champions last week.
Bayern’s season will not end until after they’ve played the DFB-Pokal final on July 4, and also completed their Champions League campaign which resumes in August with the second leg of their round-of-16 tie against Chelsea.
The only issue holding the deal up is Liverpool’s desire to reach an agreement with Bayern which will mean they won’t have to pay the £32m (€35) asking price for Thiago in one go.
