Ibrahima Konate will fully take part in Liverpool pre-season after France’s squad for the Olympics games has been revealed.
The 22-year-old was set to link up with France for this summer’s games in what would have been his second tournament after involvement in the under-21 Euros earlier this month.
However, ahead of Konate’s debut season, any involvement would have severely impacted his settling-in period both on and off the field with the Olympics held between July 21 and August 7.
As the tournament is not recognised by FIFA, Liverpool are well within their rights to deny respective governing bodies from selecting their players, meaning Konate will report to pre-season as normal from July 12.
On Friday France officially released the names of 18 players that will represent their country and Konate is not involved.
