Liverpool Echo journalist David Lynch has provided an update on the club's transfer plans.
The Reds are eager to improve the squad for the next season, while they will also be looking to sign new contracts with their current stars, including Virgil van Dijk, Alisson etc.
“It’s just a case of seeing where things lie - seeing where the opportunities are. I’m sure they are ready to pull the trigger on a couple but it’s just a case of knowing what the squad is going to look like later in the window,” Lynch said (via
Anfield Watch).
“We saw this last season. I think too much gets made about needing to generate funds through sales. I don’t think Liverpool are skint. They need to know what the squad looks like and those spots for foreign players - not leaving anyone in the reserves.”
“I think they are confident those fringe players will start to move on - I think it’s just a case of delaying the incomings until later in the window. We’re starting to see those outgoings move now. It’s going to get busier as the window progresses.”
