Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed Joel Matip is a doubt for Red's clash against Manchester United this January.
The 29-year-old is expected to be ruled out for three weeks with the abductor injury he suffered during Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw at home to West Brom.
Rhys Williams replaced Matip against the Baggies, while Nat Phillips was the defender chosen to start in Liverpool's goalless draw with Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
When asked about the 29-year-old's condition after the draw at St. James' Park Klopp said:
“The normal for this kind of injury is round about three weeks.”
Liverpool's home match vs United will come exactly three weeks after Matip suffered his injury against West Brom.
