Liverpool confirm five injured stars ruled out for Norwich clash in Carabao Cup

Liverpool have revealed five players have been ruled out of Tuesday’s Norwich clash in Carabao Cup. The Reds' assistant manager Pep Lijnders announced that Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino, Neco Williams and Harvey Elliott are all ruled out due to injury. Speaking about the injured players, Lijnders told the official club website.
“Let’s start with Trent. Our game basically started at 12 o’clock against Palace. He took responsibility to speak with the doctor.   “It was not easy because these guys – it says a lot about our group anyway – they want to play everything, [even] if they feel a bit shaky or ill. But he took responsibility.   "That’s Trent, there are no COVID symptoms. We test regardless. He should be fine in a few days but Norwich comes too early.   “Thiago, how the gaffer said after the game, it was a calf injury. I can’t say now how long it will take but definitely not tomorrow and not the weekend.”
However, there was positive news on Firmino who will return to training this week after a hamstring injury. Although neither him nor Neco Williams will feature against Norwich. The assistant manager also added.
“Then we have Bobby, who will do parts of team training but is also not ready, but progressing well. And Neco is progressing well as well.   “[For Williams] tomorrow also comes too early.”   “Harvey is Harvey, a young boy and he deals with it [the injury] outstandingly, I have to say.”
