Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that he would like to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain but has explained why a transfer deal isn’t likely to happen.

Despite the Reds having increasingly been linked with a move for the France international, Mbappe is simply too expensive for Liverpool.

Klopp told Canal+: “There’s no reason for it, there’s no reason for it. Kylian plays for PSG. Griezmann has joined Barcelona.

“Obviously you know how good your team is. We would like a French player but some of them are too expensive for us.”

Mbappe has continued his superb form this season, scoring 11 goals in 12 Ligue 1 matches for PSG.
