Liverpool begin preparations to face Brighton. 7 things to know about the training session

Liverpool came through a tough test at Selhurst Park to win 2-0 on Monday night. Jurgen Klopp will already have his eye on his team’s next challenge at home to Brighton on Saturday evening. They make it look so easy Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum looked to be doing at one point anyway, as two of the starters from the Crystal Palace victory turned into performing seals at Melwood. They seem confident to tackle any challenge sitting down. Henderson in front of Fabinho Liverpool supporters reacted to the news that Fabinho was left out of the squad by claiming that they’d seen all this before, with Klopp having enacted similar caution with Andy Robertson and Alex Oxlande-Chamberlain. All smiles for Salah Mohamed Salah was still the talks of the Palace game despite not scoring, but if you thought accusations of diving from the hosts would have got him down at training then you’d have been mistaken. Loris Karius Karius was keeping a low profile during the session, but you could spot the German goalkeeper lurking behind Virgil van Dijk. Klopp’s new brain? Pep Ljinders-highly thought of by Klopp before he left last season to pursue his managerial career in Holland. After that didn’t work out he’s back, and his influence was clear to see. A back rub for Naby Xherdan Shaqiri-who didn’t get on Selhurst Park- was on hand to give Naby Keita a little shoulder massage. Firmino Firmino scores an overhead kick.

This Liverpool pair can become one of the Premier League’s great defensive pairs
