Lewis Hamilton opens up on Ferrari switch after Toto Wolff leak

Lewis Hamilton has opened up on a potential switch to Ferrari after Toto Wolff leaked their discussion. Wolff admitted he had spoken to Hamilton regarding a potential move to Ferrari. The Brit is out of contract at the end of next year and he admitted he did bring up the Ferrari name when speaking about his future. “I think when you’re in negotiations you always have to drop in the Ferrari name,” Hamilton said. “Do I plan on going elsewhere? I haven’t made any plans for my future. At the moment I’m just enjoying driving with this team. It’s incredible what we’re achieving together, and I plan on working with this team to help it become the most successful team of all time. That’s my current goal and my sole focus.” Hamilton led Valtteri Bottas to the fifth consecutive Mercedes one-two at the start of this season after dominating the Spanish Grand Prix. The Briton took an extra point for the fastest lap of the race, his first of the campaign and was helped by a safety car deployment 20 laps from the end giving him a free second pitstop. The 76th victory of the five times world champion’s career and third of the season sent the Hamilton seven points clear of Finnish team mate Valtteri Bottas after five of the 21 races.
