Lewis Hamilton has won six F1 titles and Lando Norris has now explained how he’s secured so much success.
The 35-year-old won his first title in just his second season in F1, while racing for McLaren, and has added five more since moving to Mercedes.
Hamilton is now seven race wins shy of matching Michael Schumacher’s haul of 91 and equalling that tally would put him well on the way to a seventh World Drivers’ Championship.
“You have to be lucky with how things go,” Norris told the Mirror. “It’s not always down to the driver, you do need a good car to win the championship.
“Lewis always placed himself well with McLaren and then going to Mercedes. Other drivers are just unlucky and do the opposite.
“As much as I would love to, it doesn’t mean I’m going to be able to do the same as someone else. Formula 1 just isn’t like that.”
