Leroy Sane has already hinted which team he would join between Manchester City and Liverpool

Leroy Sane has already indicated a preference between Manchester City and Liverpool for a potential return.

Jurgen Klopp are reportedly keen on acquiring the Bayern Munich winger as Mohamed Salah's replacement at Anfield. However, Manchester City have entered the picture, expressing interest in re-signing the German in the upcoming summer, as per German news outlet Bild.

This development could impact Liverpool's transfer aspirations, given that Sane had previously chosen to join Manchester City over Liverpool in 2016.

Speaking about Jurgen Klopp, the attacker told the Guardian in 2018: "He did a good job at [Borussia] Dortmund – I met him when he was there. He's a good guy, nice guy - honest. He [has] worked well with Liverpool."

Nevertheless, Sane's willingness to return to the Etihad may have evolved, as he explained his decision to join Bayern in 2020, citing the unpredictable squad rotation under Pep Guardiola as a factor.

“Of course I want to play, but I don’t demand to start every match. No player in the world can play every match and reach his highest level. I have my goals, but I’m zero-point-zero percent against rotation," Sane told Bild, via the Manchester Evening News

Guardiola is known for frequently rotating his squad, making 45 changes to the starting XI during the 2022/23 treble-winning campaign. Sane, who has expressed his views on rotation, may reconsider rejoining Manchester City due to the unpredictability of playing time.

On the contrary, Sane's potential role on the right flank at Liverpool could be more assured if Mohamed Salah departs, providing him with a secure position in the starting lineup.
