Leeds United have set their sights on former Tottenham wonderkid Marcus Edwards, according to Football Insider.
Head coach Marcelo Bielsa has made it a priority to add another wide attacker to his United squad by next Monday’s transfer deadline. And the 21-year-old has been shortlisted in the latest twist to the club’s recruitment plans.
Edwards has revived his career in Portugal at Vitoria Guimaraes after leaving boyhood club Spurs last year.
The left-footed attacker had been
hailed in his teens as a future great by Mauricio Pochettino, who compared him to Lionel Messi on the eve of his Tottenham debut.
However, Edwards made only a single Spurs appearance before dropping down the pecking order amid criticism of his attitude and professionalism.
Capped by England at Under-20 level, he had a fine season on loan at SBV Excelsior Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivise 2018-19.
