Lampard explains crucial next step for Chelsea after PL winning run ended

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard said that his side must learn to control the “finer details” of matches if they are to progress to Manchester City’s levels.  Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez on 29 and 37 minutes cancelled out N’Golo Kanté’s opener at the Etihad Stadium to lift the champions to third. “[The possession] was not the critical factor, the manager said. “Coming into the game, with our recent form and how we’ve been developing quickly, I wanted to come and be brave on the ball and off the ball. “In the first half you saw all of that and at 1-0 we had relative control of the game, but that never lasts. There were a lot of positives but we lost the games. It shows at this level it’s the finer details in both boxes that decide it. “These teams, Liverpool and City, have been getting results for a long time because these finer details, maybe they get them right. I don’t think you can come away from that game and say it was anything other than two really strong teams going against each other. “One wins it because of a deflected goal and a really good goal, and the rest was in the balance.” Source- TeamTalk
