Jurgen Klopp was delighted with Adam Lallana’s performance during Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Burnley at Anfield and described the midfielder as ‘outstanding’.
Lallana was a surprise name in the squad Klopp named for Burnley match.
Before the game, Klopp revealed that he had selected Lallana due to his performances in training and afterwards he commended the England international for his all-action display.
“Adam was outstanding in training and it was clear that if he could play how he trained, it would help us today,” Klopp said. “That’s exactly what happened. Well done, it’s really well deserved all the praise he is getting.”
The former Southampton man played a key role in Liverpool’s second goal of the game. Prior to his substitution for Naby Keita with 13 minutes remaining, Lallana had clocked up the highest number of kilometres run and the highest average speed of any player in Liverpool’s team.
Liverpool’s win over Burnley has seen them move back to within a point of Premier League leaders Manchester City following their 3-1 victory against Watford on Saturday.
