Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Leicester City’s “really smart decisions” in the transfer market are pushing Liverpool to be even better.
Premier League leaders are setting new standards, with only two points dropped all season, and the German manager said he is striving to develop his team all the time because he knows Manchester City and Leicester won’t stop trying to chase them down.
Speaking to
beIN Sports, the Reds boss said:
“(Developing players) is what you need to make the next step in football. All the other teams don’t sleep.
“Manchester City constantly bring in players. Leicester, now, are a really good team and made really smart decisions in the transfer market on top of what they already have. These are the teams we have to face.
“So that is the league we are facing. We have to develop. It is not if we want to, we have to, to be as successful as possible.”
