Jurgen Klopp provides injury update ahead of the Chelsea clash and reveals why he berated Shaqiri

Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge for their second game against Chelsea this week, this time in the Premier League Match week 7. Both Chelsea and Liverpool are unbeaten so far this season, with the Reds the only side who still have a 100 per cent record. Ahead of the trip Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp faced the press. Virgil van Dijk didn’t train with the team so far. Alexander-Arnold and Wijnaldum are available. Klopp on losing to Chelsea It’s not cool. It’s not what we want. We shouldn’t be surprised when things like that happen against a really strong side when you don’t use your chances. It always gives a chance to the other team. We are competitive. That’s what we have to show again. The Chelsea game was a very interesting game. We needed time to adapt without the ball. It felt like things weren’t comfortable. It was because of little, little details. It was a big challenge for the boys. I was happy with how we adapted in the end. But still, we lost. It’s not a problem, that can happen. The result is the most important thing, but performance is also important especially for analysis. It was interesting to see how we adapted in such a short time. Klopp plays down a potential five-point gap I don’t think like this as it’s difficult enough to win the game or even get a point. I don’t think about a five-point gap, 31 games from the end, it’s nothing. On Van Dijk Virgil is a world-class player and when you miss a world class player it’s not cool. Dejan Lovren played his first game in 10 weeks and most of that time he couldn’t train. If Virgil is fit, he plays. If not, then obviously we have options. We can play without Virgil, thank God. But I prefer if we can. The last game he wasn’t available, now we will see for tomorrow. No positives to Chelsea defeat We do the job to play all the games somebody gives us. All the competitions we want to win. In a moment I don’t see a lot of positive things from losing a cup game. If I or Sarri would have played all the kids on Wednesday, it would have been a fun game. It was instead a real cup game and both teams showed how much they wanted to win. The defeat was the best preparation It will be tough and intense for both sides. It’s a big one. It already sounds good, and we have to make sure it is good. Both teams know it won’t be an easy game. The best preparation for Saturday’s game is Wednesday’s game. There will be different players but we will learn from the game. We try to use the information from [Wednesday] to be better on Saturday. Striking back is a nice opportunity. Klopp on Shaqiri Very good. Very, very good. When he came in, that was what I wanted from him, to be completely free and just play football. I didn’t want to fill him with information about the way he defends, I wanted him only to play football. He makes big steps. German newspapers said I had an argument with him on the pitch, to make it clear, I didn’t. Not a children's birthday party! Since the last international break, we are halfway through (a tough group of games) and have done very well performance wise and result wise. Before we started, it was clear the game at Chelsea would not be a children’s birthday. Then you go to Naples. Tough place to go. Klopp on Hazard I know exactly how good he is. He’s a special player and he enjoys these ones vs one situation. I didn’t need that game to find out about that. If we had one 100% challenge out of the four or five we had, he wouldn’t have been able to do what he did.  Stop pass to him? Good idea? Being close? Good idea, but he likes players being close sometimes. We all know we could have stopped that goal but he used that situation. No player is not defendable. We have to close the right spaces. Chelsea's F1 car How do we defend Jorginho? We have Hazard and him. And Willian. And Kovacic running like a Formula One car. And Kante. They’re all important [players for Chelsea], so let’s try to be at 100%. When we play football we cause teams problems.
