Jurgen Klopp makes huge statement on Takumi Minamino ahead of new PL season

Jurgen Klopp has opened up on Takumi Minamino, claiming the midfielder looked like a "completely different" player over pre-season. The Japanese has struggled to score goals with the Reds, joining the newly-crowned Premier League champions during the January transfer window. The player himself considered “regrettable” his less contribution to the club’s latest success, saying: “We could win the league and I am so happy I could experience that. “But I wanted to have goals or assists. “I pay a lot of attention to them, so it’s regrettable that I couldn’t achieve it.” However, the 25-year-old has now shown why Jurgen Klopp wanted to see him at Anfield. He already managed to impress in the pre-season, netting in the Community Shield final and becoming stronger day by day. Minamino has been brilliant in Liverpool's friendly matches, and Klopp believes that he's ready to make a huge impact on the team this term alongside Naby Keita and Curtis Jones. “Naby Keita had his most consistent player after lockdown because he did not have injuries and was a really important part of this period,” Klopp said. “I don’t want to put pressure on Curtis Jones but he looked very promising in the games he players. “I was always clear that Takumi Minamino needs time and he looks completely different.”
