Jude Bellingham has revealed the decision to snub Manchester United was “quite easy” after visiting the Red Devils’ training complex.
The Red Devils rolled out the red carpet for the teenage sensation last summer as Bellingham neared the exit at Birmingham. They organised a meeting between Bellingham and legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson on the day, with the serial Premier League winner taking the youngster on a guided tour of the Carrington facilities.
Bellingham was surely impressed with what United could offer him and he was strongly linked with a transfer to Old Trafford at the time. However, the England international surprised the world when he snubbed the Red Devils and instead left England for Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.
“To be fair, it was a decision that was quite easy in the end,” said Bellingham.
“I think if you look at Dortmund’s track record with young players and the way they develop them, it was the obvious answer.
“Obviously at the time it’s hard to see it like that because you’ve got so many other options. But my strength of character, I’d probably say it comes from my parents and stuff.
“In terms of the decision I made, I had all their support throughout the whole way so I was quite comfortable in making it.”
