Jose Mourinho's verdict on Kepa Arrizabalaga's row with Maurizio Sarri

Yesterday Chelsea and Manchester City faced each other in the Carabao Cup final. The final ended with Manchester City's 4-3 win on penalties. Before the penalty shoot out, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga appeared to be injured. But when the Blues coach Maurizio Sarri wanted to substitute him, Kepa refused to come off. Later the goalkeeper explained that he did not mean to disobey Maurizio Sarri after their incredible Wembley bust-up. After the incident, Kepa received criticism from fans and the media. Former Chelsea and Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho also had his say on this. Despite admitting the incident left him feeling “really sad” for Sarri, he praised Kepa’s show of defiance. “The goalkeeper wants to show his personality, his confidence, wants to show that he is there and wants to be at the shootout and make saves - and I like that," Mourinho told DAZN. “Luckily I never had to go through this. I don’t like that he leaves his coach and the assistant coach in a situation of great fragility. "And his teammate, who was ready to enter the match, and who in the end saw himself in the middle of a problematic situation that had nothing to do with him.”
